What did God do while we were in Bosnia?
What did God do while we were in Bosnia? I think the question should be: What didn't He do? He brought together eleven people with different backgrounds, interests, abilities and outlooks, but with one common purpose: to glorify God in our lives, and for the next two weeks this would be our aim in Bosnia.
Our first task was to hold a kids club for children who lived on the outskirts of Bihać. It was a challenge to keep them occupied and interested but one thing we could do was display God's love through our words and actions, and their excitement at singing: ‘My God is big!' in Bosnian, or being able to answer a question from the story was a bonus.
The people who we met, including two elderly sisters who had nothing materially yet were so full of love and joy, were more of a blessing to us than we could ever have been for them in painting and cleaning their homes. Later as we brought each place and its people before God in prayer we saw the huge potential that there is all around us when we look at things through God's eyes.
I guess what I learnt from Bosnia is that we were blessed more than we could ever have imagined for simply being willing to let God use us, and to never underestimate how powerful and mighty God is to accomplish his will through us, especially when we least expect it.
